The seventh round of the Vodacom
Power Tour returns to AA Kyalami Grand Prix
Circuit on the 3rd August 2002. The race action so far this
year has been nothing short of spectacular, with race fans having been
kept entertained by the likes of air displays, kids entertainment
area’s, track parades cavalcades too. The Kyalami race is set to be no
different, with South Africa’s premier racing categories all in action
on one day providing a motorsport show second to none. As usual the WesBank V8 Challenge,
Production Cars, SA Superbike Championship, Formula Ford, VSP Sports
Racing Cars and Vodacom Isondo Sports 2000’s will all be on track at the
home of South African motorsport. The race meeting will also cater for
the whole family, with a kids play park offering huge inflatable slides
and the like near the Pit area, as well as a ‘Bush-Pub Beer Garden’ in
the Paddock Club above Pit Lane, which will ensure that race fans can eat,
drink and be merry and not miss a single bit of the days race action. On track the Vodacom Power Tour will
celebrate the history of the Supercar with a parade of supercars including
more than twenty Porsches and ten Lamborghini’s in an unprecedented
display of these magnificent cars. Driver and rider autograph sessions
will also take place around lunchtime in the pit complex with all the
favourite racing stars on hand to meet spectators. Motorsport seems to attract
celebrities and Kyalami always sees numerous TV and radio personalities
wondering around the pits. The Vodacom Power Tour Brolly Babes will, as
usual, be on the grid and in the Pit Lane, often taking some of the
limelight away from the riders and drivers. All this combined with some
spectacular racing will provide for a great day out for the whole family. The race weekend will begin on Friday
the 2nd August with most categories practising and qualifying
on that day. With free entrance to the public on the Friday, some great
action can be seen during the qualifying sessions. On race day the action
will begin at 10h00 and entrance to the track will be R 35.00 for adults
and children under 16 free. |
