VSP’S KYALAMI TEST IN RUN-UP TO KILLARNEY
- 12 March 2002

The Vodacom Sports Prototypes tested at Kyalami yesterday in what was the first time these cars had turned a wheel in four months, and the first outing with their new Nissan powered engines.

Supplier delays saw the VSP’s missing the first race of the season, at Kyalami on the 23rd of February, but yesterday the track came alive with the new sound of these great looking racers. Now, sporting all-new V6 engines supplied by Nissan, about twelve cars were testing their new found power source at Kyalami in a run-up to what will be the formula’s first outing at Killarney in Cape Town this coming weekend, where about twenty VSP’s will take to the grid.

All the teams that tested yesterday were generally pleased with the results of the Nissan engines and happy to get some gremlins out of the system before race day.

Excited about the prospect of their first race, VSP driver Neville Jordan commented that, judging by the start of the first F1 Grand Prix of 2002, after also having a four month break, spectators should get down to the first corner of Killarney on Saturday the 16th March, as it might get quite interesting with this formula too!
