SPECTACTULAR CROWD PLEASERS FOR VODACOM POWER TOUR KILLARNEY RACE
- 8 March 2002

The Vodacom Power Tour Killarney Race Day on Saturday the 16th March 2002, will provide spectators with an unparalleled level of entertainment not seen in years around the motorsport circuits of South Africa.

Kicking off proceedings will be a lunchtime track parade made up of two parts. The first will see the winners of all the five major national race formulas from the Kyalami race in February take to the track in Kartsport SA, Arrow karts for a one-lap parade. The chance to see Midas Production Car champion and last race winner, Shaun van der Linde, WesBank V8’s Gary Formato, SA Superbike’s Russell Wood, VSP champion George Ferreira, Formula Ford’s Morne Jurgens in action in karts will be a great sight for the crowds. The second part of the parade will see ten Porsche World Roadshow cars taking to the track just behind the race winners, to provide a grand spectacle. The ten Porsches are currently in South Africa for the Porsche Centres running of the South African part of the World Roadshow, and a more varied and stunning range of Porsches you will not find.

Following the parade will be the awesome sight of one of Thunder City’s English Electric Lighting fighter jets flying over the race circuit. This incredibly impressive jet is one of only three of its kind flying in the world, and will provide spectators and competitors alike with a truly special and memorable experience. The jet will be piloted by one of Thunder City’s directors and avid fighter pilot, Mike Beachy Head.

Another major attraction to the Killarney round of the Vodacom Power Tour, will be the impressive visual spectacle of all the racing teams ‘big-rigs” travelling through Cape Towns city centre en route to the Killarney race circuit. This impressive convoy will start at lunchtime on Thursday the 14th of March, and arrive at the circuit at around 15h00, to set up for the meeting itself.
