EVERYTHING TO PLAY FOR IN THE HOLLARD SHELBY CAN-AM CHAMPIONSHIP

With only three rounds remaining in this year’s Hollard Shelby Can-Am Championship emotions are running high. The next round of the championship takes place at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on Saturday 8 September as part of the National Pro Tour series. Neil Lobb (DK Woodcraft) leads the point’s standings from son Darryn Lobb (DK Woodcraft) with the upcoming event playing a pivotal role in the championship fight. The season long family feud reached fever pitch at the previous round of the championship when Neil Lobb inadvertently collided with Darryn, who looked set to take the race win. As a result Darryn is eager to score as many points as possible at Kyalami and take the championship fight to the wire. Donavan Roscoe (Stanley Tools) is mathematically still in with a shout in this year’s title, however he will need to dominate the upcoming rounds in order to get back into contention. Looking to interfere with these plans will be Rui Campos (HUGO BOSS) who has been a consistent force throughout the season. Jean Paul Bredenhann (BIG FOOT Express) and Alan Eve (HUGO BOSS) have both appeared on the podium at prior races this season and are more than capable of challenging at the front of the pack. Leading the midfield pack is Sam Hammond (San Marco) his consistency has paid dividends and sees him lying seventh in the championship, he will face opposition from the likes of Colin Frost (Strocam), Sean Greve (Vulcania Reinforcing Company), and Brian Algar (Omnicover), Greg Bailey (Bailey Edwards) and Chris Hart (Hi Q Plettenburg Bay). Jennifer Murray (Hollard/Bravo Holdings) will return to the Shelby Can-Am fray at Kyalami. Murray made her debut in the Shelby series at the previous round of the championship. She was quickly on the pace and will be looking to challenge near the front of the pack at Kyalami. Looking to break rank will be the likes of Trevor Frost (Strocam Mining), Paul Kyriacou, Rob Wall (Vered Estates) and Dave Beattie (BACE Structural Engineers), while Harry Roscoe (Protea Playing Cards) and Richard Wood (ALMAR Packaging) complete the field of entries.
