There are just two rounds left before the Hollard Shelby Can-Am series is wrapped up; as such the final two races are poised to please. The pen-ultimate round of the competition will see Zwartkops raceway become a battle arena on Saturday 29 September, when contenders fight it out for this year’s championship title. After a great performance, at Kyalami earlier this month, Darryn Lobb (DK Woodcraft) now heads the championship table and looks more determined than ever to clinch his first Hollard Shelby Can-Am title. Father, Neil Lobb (DK Woodcraft) is the main challenger to the throne but has now slipped in to the clutches of Donavan Roscoe (Stanley Tools). With Lobb Snr. and Roscoe now on level points it’s anyone’s game. Alan Eve (Hugo Boss) and Rui Campos (Hugo Boss) will also be looking to add more points to their campaign, as well as the team, which will make for some close racing. Further down the pack we will see Sam Hammond (San Marco), Sean Greve (Vulcania Reinforcing Company) and Craig Shorter (Hollard Insurance) battling it out with the likes of Colin Frost (Strocam) and Brian Algar (Firedart Eng Underwriters). Jennifer Murray (Bravo Holdings Pty Ltd.) will once again take to the track as the only female entrant. Murray who has only recently joined the series has acquitted herself well and has proved she is capable of mixing it near the front of the field. Also taking to the track will be Karl Zachau (Driveline/Salt), Chris Hart (Hi-Q Plettenburg Bay) – who scored a third place finish in the first race of the last meeting, Dave Beattie (BACE Structural Engineers) and Greg Bailey (Bailey Edwards Cars). Rounding out the field will be Rob Wall (Vered Estates), Richard Wood (ALMAR Packaging), and Harry Roscoe (Protea Playing Cards) – who is currently in 10th position in the overall championship standings. With the series winding down we can still expect some exciting wheel to wheel action as competitors scramble for the last few points before the champion is crowned. 2007 HOLLARD SHELBY CAN-AM CHAMPIONSHIP 1 Darryn Lobb DK Woodcraft 207 2 Neil Lobb DK Woodcraft 192 3 Donavan Roscoe Stanley Tools 192 4 Rui Campos Hugo Boss 162 5 Alan Eve Hugo Boss 119 6 JP Bredenhann BIG FOOT Express 116 |
