The Hollard Shelby Can-Am championship is hotting-up as it enters the halfway mark in the 2007 season. A number of drivers will be looking to claim victory when they arrive at Zwartkops Raceway on Satrurday 30 June for round four of the Pro Tour Series. Former champion Niel Lobb (DK Woodcraft) currently heads the title log, however he’ll have to watch his back if he wants maintain his advantage. Son Darryn Lobb ( DK Woodcraft), is within striking distance and following a career best result at the previous round he is as determined as ever. Just one point adrift is Donavan Roscoe (Stanley Tools), while Rui Campos (Hugo Boss) is separated by a further point. Roscoe has proved to be one of the quickest Can-Am competitors this season but has yet to translate his pace into a race winning performance – Zwartkops could prove to be a happy hunting ground for him. Campos on the other hand has emerged as one of the most consistent runners this season but will want to challenge for the lead at Zwartkops. Those that could interfere with his plans include the likes of JP Bredenhann (BIG FOOT Transporters) and Alan Eve (Boss). Sean Greve (Vulcania Reinforcing Company) will be looking to score a top six finish following a string of strong performances to date, his main challenge could come from Colin Frost (Strocam). The fiercely contested midfield battle could see any number of drivers vying for track space, among them; Karl Zachau (Driveline / Salt) , Craig Shorter (Hollard Insurance), Sam Hammond (San Marko), Chris Hart (HQ-Plettenburg Bay), Brian Algar (Omnicover) and Peter Bailey (Bailey Edwards Cars). Once again featuring a sizable entry list the Hollard Shelby Can-Am race will also see the likes of Trevor Frost (Strocam Mining), Paul Kyriacou , Rob Wall (Vered Estates), Dave Beatie, Harry Roscoe (Protea Playing Cards) and Richard Wood (ALMAR Packaging) taking to the track. |
