Well, well, well, so Vodacom departs the motor racing scene. A bit sudden don’t you think? And all in the last quarter of the year! Why not see out the year on the present contract and buy themselves out of the next FOUR years of their contract. What is going on? It all smacks of underhand dealing and the usual political wrangling that has become a part of moneyed sports. Money in sport has not done much for it, has it? What has become of the “Benevolent Dictator”? Where are the people who are in a sport for the sake of their sport and not for the money? Bureaucrats feathering their own nests at the cost of the sport that they purport patronise! Ha!

Talking of rare species have you ever seen the following at a motor race?
The MD of MSA? (the company we, drivers & track owners,  pay her for the pleasure of spending our hard earned bucks)
The MD of Sail? (the company that provides us with our Vodacom cash)
Oddly enough you will see him at the golf!

I suppose that one does not begrudge Bernie Ecclestone his hard earned millions, at least he goes to the races!

Before there was sponsorship money in motor racing, teams withdrew from the sport because of the cost of the sport, so has this money helped?

So, on the same tack, now we at SCA have no sponsor, and the committee asks for volunteers for the Marketing Committee, and guess how many volunteers they have got so far! NONE ! It is disgusting! And depressing, especially when one thinks of the criticism hurled at the people who get out there and do the work! Go on volunteer and I will too!

Did you know that 101 years ago Rigolly drove a Gobron-Brillie at an average 103.56 mph (167kph)?
Now we have a blind man driving a Maserati at 269kmh.

Also from the history books, do you remember our very own Mike Morel? Well speed is an inherited gene. In 1926 A. Morel managed an average of 122.67 mph in a 1086cc Amilcar!

Finally, another month has gone by and we are not any closer to a new gearbox or a new body. Opportunity, going, going gone? A new sponsor, a new body, it seems like an ideal marketing opportunity even though I know nothing about the game!

Guys we need to get our ducks in a row, lets all work to get new talent into the class, there are a number of cars for sale! Now is the time to do it!
