Well after a prolonged silence, I am back on the air. Sadly I start the year with the confirmation of the doomed feelings that I had at the end of the year. MSA once again believes that they should run motor sport! And as for the empty promises over the TV coverage and payments, we find ourselves, the competitors paying for the coverage! Hey guess who holds the TV rights? MSA, so the money they get from selling those is not reinvested into the TV coverage, greedy people? It seems to me that all the good work done by all and particularly ProRacing over the last 6 years has been blown out the window. Money has been invested over this period to create an event of a high standard, a brand that can be marketed, and certainly a reputation of delivery, both to competitors and to the public. I wonder why it seemed to some misguided soul that this working and successful machine needed dismantling? Ah the clowns that roam the corridors of power, I am reminded of the adage “Absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

We have had two National events, and to my knowledge, once again Kyalami only just got its act together in time for the race, again, and once again clowns who were kept out of all the powerful positions, have crept back, and the crass decisions, the cruddy behaviour has all returned. What happened to the well run race meeting?

Cape Town was not going to get its National license unless it made necessary changes to the track, these were agreed, but, believe me when I say they were never done, and the track has in its old guise run a National Championship, please tell me how! Maybe the drivers whose cars were wrecked at this year’s event should sue MSA!

How do we go down these roads, and forever made a mess of it? We HAVE to improve the safety at ALL tracks, and acknowledging the expense of the upgrades, ProRacing felt the upgrading should be done in a phased manner. Now thanks to some really short sighted and stupid thinking by those at the top, we are racing on basically the same tracks, with the exception of Kyalami and Welkom, as our forefathers did in the 70ties! We almost had a disaster in PE last year, when a Wesbank somersaulted into the crowd! The Left turn at the pits in Cape Town has been a problem for years, oh boy! But we still race there. Etc. etc! Disaster will come! We have the duty to improve circuit safety, but we suddenly don’t have the power to make it happen! We don’t even have the ear of MSA – Why because all the circuit owners are on the MSA board! POWER – we have none! Yet we risk our lives and our investments on their circuits, for their benefit 10 weekends of the year!

Pray that we don’t end up where we were a few years ago when the TV stations would not broadcast the National Championship races! Regrettably we will end up down there again, thanks to our esteemed leaders!

All Hail MSA!

Some great news from the “off season” at the recent Goodyear awards ceremony the following awards were given to Shelby CanAmers! Congratulations both of you!
